Contest Period/Fee: Event runs from September 1, 2007 through March 31,
2008. There is NO charge to PBA members who enter a fish.
Acceptable Specie/Locations: All World waters with Grande (3-bar or speckled) Peacock Bass (cichla temensis) larger than 13 pounds ("teeners" or better). Fish under 13 pounds are not eligible.
Awards Galore: Everyone that registers a "teener" or larger peacock bass will win a prize. At least four Major Prizes will be awarded, and you won't necessarily
have to catch the biggest peacock bass to win one of them. The Grand Prize of a tackle package including a Shimano 300 DSV reel, Power Pro braided line and a
selection of peacock bass lures from Quest Tackle for the winning giant peacock bass will go to the person catching the largest verifiable grande peacock bass
during the contest period. A Second Place Prize of a beautiful custom 3-piece Woodchopper Casting Rod by Dink Alston of Goldrush Custom Rods will go to the
person catching the second largest verifiable grande peacock bass during the contest period. A third award of an Amazon Grade Clothing package including
tactical fishing shirt, zip-off pants and Activewear fishing jersey from QuesTackle will go to another entrant selected via a random drawing of all PBA members with
entries. A fourth prize of a 3-year PBA Membership Extension will be awarded to the person having the largest peacock bass AND a PBA embroidered patch (or
shirt embroidered with "Peacock Bass Association") showing in the photo of the big fish. The PBA patch can be sewn on a fishing shirt or on a cap or hat, but the
PBA logo must show up in the photo of the angler and fish to qualify for this award. If the person winning one of the 3 other prizes is also sporting the patch,
then he/she with the largest peacock additionally wins the 3-year Membership extension from PBA. Winning contestants outside of the U.S. are responsible for
all international shipping costs of awards to them. All members entering a "teener" fish photo will receive a tackle prize (line or lure) worth more than $10 and their photo will be posted on the PBA website.
Eligibility: Only Individual Members of the Peacock Bass Association at the time of the catch are eligible. Additionally,
they must be members in good standing at the time of the close of the contest on March 31, 2008. Non-members are
not eligible to enter the WTPB Contest. Supporting Members of PBA (and Larry Larsen) are not eligible for this contest.
PBA headquarters will verify membership and approve final prize awards. This is a "fun" contest for our members
offering some great prizes to those who honestly enter their biggest peacock catch. Only the member's largest fish will count in this contest or be entered in the drawing for third prize.
To Enter, the PBA Member Should Submit the Following for only their
largest peacock bass: 1.full name, 2. address, 3. fish weight (lbs.), 4. fish length (inches), 5. Date of Catch, 6. Catch verification from outfitter
or camp host (see below), and 7. Photo verification (see below). There is no limit on number of Grande Entries that a contestant may submit but only the largest fish will count and only one
award will be presented to any individual. Click for an Entry Form! The required information and photo proof must be
submitted within 6 weeks of the catch with the very latest entry postmark being April 1, 2008. Photographs will not be
returned but may be used for promotional purposes of PBA. We will post photo of entries on our website in our World
Trophy Peacock Bass Contest section. Send Entries to: PBA headquarters, c/o Larry Larsen, 2640 Elizabeth Place, Lakeland, FL 33812, or email info@peacockbassassociation.com.
Catch, Weigh, Measure, & Release Requirements: The contestant may catch the peacock bass through any legal
means on rod & reel. The catch should be weighed on a good, quality scale such as a Boga Grip or similar and then
measured for length in inches. After appropriate photo (see requirement below), the fish must be released in a healthy condition.
Photo Requirements (no exceptions): The contestant must take and send
to PBA headquarters at least one non-returnable photo that includes the following:
1. Himself or herself and the peacock bass (your largest only counts) that weighs 13 pounds or better. Digital photos that can be emailed or sent on
a disk are preferred, but slides and prints also qualify. Photos cannot be returned so send a digital to info@peacockbassassociation.com or a copy
to the Peacock Bass Association, 2640 Elizabeth Place, Lakeland, FL 33812.
2. To win the additional prize of the 3-year membership extension (or for tie-breaking purposes of the other awards), the photo must show you
wearing either a PBA patch hat or a shirt with sewn-on PBA embroidered logo patch clearly visible in the photo. As many of you know, the PBA patch from headquarters is FREE to all PBA members sending an SASE. If you
haven't already received your free patch, get one today and sew it on your shirt or cap so that you can win this additional contest award when the
giant hits! Sport your association logo and you're eligible to win this additional prize from PBA. (photo of patch from Dec news at html/dic.html)
Verification of Weighing, Measuring & Release: The outfitter, operation owner, agent or resident camp host at that location (although not
personally witnessing the catch) must certify with a letter or e mail that the fish was caught and released by the contestant and that the weight in
either pounds or kilograms was verified by the guide or fishing partner. A length measurement from the tip of the jaw to the tip of the tail is requested, while a girth measurement is optional but preferred.
In Case of Ties: In case of ties (we had 3 last year), the angler with a PBA logo showing in the photo will be declared
the winner. If both those with big fish weighing the same have the PBA logos or if neither do, a drawing will be held for the one award.
Award Time/Sponsors: The prize winners will be announced May 1, 2008 in our PBA eZine. PBA Supporting Members,
Scott Swanson of QuesTackle (www.questackle.com; email: questhook@aol.com) and Amazon Grade Lures/Clothing (email: questhook@aol.com) and Dink Alston of Goldrush Custom Rods (email: dink13@aol.com) have donated the
great awards for this contest! Give them your support!
Questions: Any questions or clarifications can be addressed to Larry Larsen at info@peacockbassassociation.com.
